PLANNING & MIXED USE

HUZHOU TAI LAKE WETLANDS

HUZHOU, ZHEJIANG, CHINA

The Huzhou Wetlands residential resort was designed to both significantly expand tourism and simultaneously establishing a popular residential community, by carefully incorporating the site’s natural features, with the anticipated market potential. The master plan design is rooted in the rich Huzhou heritage with a very large, but subtle, Harmony character inspired by the famous local scholar, painter, and calligrapher Zhao Mengfu’s calligraphy stoke. The Harmony calligraphy character was the inspiration for the 77.8 hectare centerpiece of the total eight square kilometer resort development, which is made up of five guest experience sub-themed districts; Harmony of Music, Harmony in Blossom, Harmony of Nature, Harmony of Culture, and Harmony of Time. A promenade will connect the five Harmony sub-themed attractions, allowing for easy access to this mix of individually gated park attractions. In order to maintain the differentiated five sub-theme districts of the Harmony form, HHCP established through the use of creative landscape concepts, a unifying continuity for the overall calligraphy character. Harmony of Music town celebrates "international music", providing a variety of music themed daytime to late night retail, dinning, and entertainment activities. Harmony in Blossom features colorful world class flower and tree gardens as inspired by the famous Butchart Gardens in Canada. Harmony of Nature will allow guests to relax, rejuvenate, and immerse themselves in beauty of this environmentally friendly attraction, celebrating the vast world of nature. The Harmony of Culture experience is anchored in China’s vast culture. The Cultural Heritage Park will feature visual arts, crafted arts, literary arts, preforming arts, and the celebration of seasonal Chinese festivals. Explore the Harmony of Time as visitors travel back in history to experience the peaceful environments and lifestyles of previous points in time within the gated Historic Celebration Park. This multi-day guest experience is designed to provide a culturally meaningful destination for the primary Chinese market, as well as establish a globally desirable opportunity to explore the cultural heritage of Huzhou, and the correlated historic significance of China's development as related to the western world.
